Yango University was founded in 2001, affiliated with Fuzhou University—a national "Double First-Class" construction university and a key university under the national "211 Project." In 2015, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was restructured into an independently established private general undergraduate institution. In 2017, it was designated by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education as a pilot institution for master's degree authorization. In 2022, it was selected as a cultivation unit for first-class application-oriented universities in Fujian Province. In 2025, it was approved as a pilot project for master's degree-granting institutions in Fujian Province.
